Gauging reel with depth counter and clutch for lowering current meters and samplers from bridges, cranes and cableways.
Overview
The sounding reel positions stream gauging and sampling equipment from an overhead structure, such as a bridge crane, a boat or a cableway. The meter or sampler hangs on the reel cable with its sounding weight and is lowered to each measuring depth.
A depth counter on the reel shows how far the weight has been lowered, readable in metric or English units, and a clutch controls the free-fall speed of the sounding weight or sampler. The reel is made for manual operation and can be power driven.
Its simple design makes it easy for any field team to use, and it is built to keep working in hard site conditions.
Key features
How it works
Fix the reel on the bridge crane, boat or cableway carriage.
Release the clutch to lower the weight; the counter shows the depth.
Hold the meter at each depth for the reading, then wind it back up.
