Lakshmi Engineering Works designs, makes and calibrates measuring instruments for water, weather, soil and the sun. Since 2003 we have built them in our own workshop in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, and supplied them to government departments, research and technical institutions, public sector organisations and private buyers in India and abroad.
Praveen Dhiman founded Lakshmi Engineering Works in Roorkee in 2003. Roorkee has long been a centre of water-resources engineering, home to IIT Roorkee and the National Institute of Hydrology, and our work grew from the instruments that field hydrologists and observers rely on every day: rain gauges, current meters, water level indicators and weather instruments.
Over twenty years the range has grown to automatic rain gauges, weather stations, evaporation and snow recorders, soil instruments and solar radiation sensors, while the original manual instruments are still made the way departments specify them.
The instruments that carry our name are designed, fabricated, assembled and calibrated at our workshop in Roorkee under the guidance of experienced engineers, so we control the quality of every part and can build to a department's specification.

We have supplied our instruments to government and semi-government departments, technical institutions and public sector units, where they continue to work in the field. They are made for the people who measure rivers, rainfall, weather and soil: hydrologists, meteorological observers, irrigation engineers and researchers.
Buyers from across India, from Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Rajasthan to Nagaland, and from countries including Nepal, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Philippines and the UAE have bought and rated our instruments.
