Solar-powered automatic evaporation recorder: pan with ceramic pressure sensor and data logger in an IP65 enclosure, GSM option.
Overview
The digital evaporation recorder measures evaporation automatically at an unattended site. It combines a corrosion-resistant galvanised and painted evaporation pan on a wooden base with a highly accurate ceramic pressure sensor (4–20 mA output) that follows the water level in the pan.
A solar panel and SLA battery power a high-accuracy V-Log data logger with power management, all in a single IP65 waterproof enclosure. A water temperature sensor is part of the system, and a wind speed sensor can be added. The recorder is ready for our GSM/GPRS telemetry modem.
The low power design keeps it running for long periods with little maintenance.
Key features
How it works
The pressure sensor measures the water level in the pan continuously.
The logger stores the level and water temperature with time, on solar power.
The fall in level over each interval gives the evaporation.
