Microprocessor-controlled, gear-driven sun tracker with 0.1° pointing accuracy and GPS, for pyrheliometers and DNI sensors.
Overview
The Lakshmi Engineering Works solar tracker is a microprocessor-controlled pan and tilt assembly that keeps solar sensors pointed at the sun all day. It is used with pyrheliometers for direct normal irradiance (DNI) and with other solar sensors.
It is fully gear driven, with stepper servo motors for precise position control and 0.1° pointing accuracy, and carries loads up to 30 Nm. An internal GPS gives the time and position, so the tracker calculates the sun's position with the best possible accuracy. LAN and wireless LAN connections are used for configuration and status monitoring, and the tracker uses less power than comparable products.
Single-axis and dual-axis trackers are made to suit the sensors and the site.
Key features
How it works
The tracker calculates the sun's position from GPS time and location.
Geared stepper motors turn the sensor platform to face the sun.
The tracker keeps correcting its position, so the pyrheliometer always faces the sun.
