Photo 1 of 1
Thermometer that holds the highest and lowest temperatures reached between readings, for daily weather observation.
Overview
The maximum and minimum thermometer shows the highest and lowest temperatures reached since it was last read and reset. An observer can take both extremes of the day with a single reading.
For weather observation it is kept in a Stevenson screen, which shades it from sun and rain while air moves freely around it. We also make separate maximum, minimum, dry bulb and wet bulb thermometers, and Assmann and sling psychrometers.
How it works
The markers stay at the highest and lowest temperatures reached.
Note both readings, then reset the markers for the next period.
