Self-contained snow water equivalent recorder with a heated tipping bucket, solar power and an IP65 enclosure.
Overview
The automatic snow gauge station is a self-contained, fully automatic snow water equivalent recorder for unattended mountain sites. A tipping bucket sensor with a heating arrangement melts the snow as it falls and measures the melt water.
A solar panel and SLA battery power a high-accuracy V-Log data logger with power management, all in a single IP65 waterproof enclosure. The station is ready for a GSM/GPRS telemetry modem, so data reaches you without a visit.
How it works
Snow falling into the gauge is melted by the heating arrangement.
The melt water tips the bucket, and each tip is counted.
The data logger stores the readings, ready to collect or send by telemetry.
