Portable water level indicator with LED signal and marked cable for water level and depth in wells and boreholes, 50 to 500 m.
Overview
The ground water level sounder (water level indicator) measures the water level and total depth in boreholes, wells and reservoirs. A brass electrode is lowered on a marked cable, and when it touches the water the circuit between its tip and body closes and the signal lamp lights. An audible signal is also available.
The cable is marked every metre, and a 1 m flexible scale is supplied for fine readings to 1 cm. It runs on a reel mounted on a stand, with handles shaped to fit the hands. The sounder works from a self-contained 9 V battery, supplied, so there is no danger of shock from an outside supply.
Standard cable lengths are 50 and 100 m; longer cables up to 500 m are made for deep tube wells.

How it works
